Local and ethnic minority young people, in one team

Diverse Talent is a youth initiative in Hong Kong. It began with one gathering on 26 May 2025, and it is supported by Fun-Tastic, a registered charity.

How it began

Our first community gathering. Hong Kong, 26 May 2025.

Our first event was a community gathering on 26 May 2025. People from different backgrounds came together to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

We did not stop at celebrating. Within weeks we were turning up at events that other people had organised: a charity fundraiser in June, a rock climbing event hosted by HKCECES in August. In October 2025 our youth members spoke at a forum in the Legislative Council Complex.

In March 2026 our volunteers supported a free eye screening for seniors in Sheung Shui, by invitation. In September 2026 our Project Director trained students and new volunteers for Fun-Tastic to do the same.

That is the pattern we want to keep: bring young people together across backgrounds, then put that team to work for the wider community.

Our mark, petal by petal

The United Bloom is six petals round a gold core. The petals are the people this work brings together. Each keeps its own colour, and it is only a bloom when all six are there.

  • Seniors

Seniors are the people we have served most directly so far. On 13 March 2026 our volunteers helped at a free eye screening for seniors in Sheung Shui, and the volunteers trained in September 2026, at Fun-Tastic sessions our Project Director led, learned to do the same with patience.

  • Youth

Young people are who we are. Our youth members have spoken at a forum in the Legislative Council Complex, and secondary school students have learned to run a fundus camera at a training our Project Director led.

  • Ethnic minorities

Diverse Talent brings ethnic minority and local Hong Kong young people into one team. At the Legislative Council Complex in October 2025 they stood side by side for the same cause.

  • Refugees

Refugees are in our mark because we mean to stand beside them. If your organisation already works with refugees in Hong Kong, we would like to learn from you.

  • Partners

Most of what we have done began with someone else: a forum organised by HKCECES, an invitation from the Lions Club, trainings run by Fun-Tastic. We are glad to be the extra pairs of hands.

  • Volunteers

Volunteers carry the work. Before a screening day they are trained: how the camera works, how to ask for consent, how to explain a result kindly.

The gold core is what holds the six together: the plain belief that every talent belongs.

What we believe

We unite and empower Hong Kong’s diverse communities, so everyone has a place to grow.

Unity in Diversity, Strength in Community.

  • Side by side

Local and ethnic minority young people do the same work in the same team. Nobody is the guest.

  • Turn up

When others organise something worthwhile, we come, we help and we learn.

  • Learn the job first

Volunteers are trained before a screening day. Our Project Director led three such trainings in September 2026.

  • Say only what is true

Every event on this site has a date. Where we have more still to do, we say so.

Who leads it

Two people are named here. The work itself is carried by our youth members and volunteers.

We do not publish the names of young people or students.
